Celebrating Family

Last year's arbor day trees enjoying the snow.  I'm awaiting the arrival of spring and this year's trees.
This weekend I'm going to the long awaited family reunion, Zimmerama.  It has been on hiatus the past couple of years and I couldn't be more excited to to finally see everyone again.

When we were children it was pure excitement.  My sister and I were afterall the youngest of the cousins and we came complete with a nickname, The Rens (Say it in a drawn out deep tone as if announcing a big shot wrestler).  My family reunions simply do not come with the stigma that so many of my friends and the common public express.  In fact it is the opposite: pure joy.  It doesn't get much better than this.  I'm not saying that everyone at Zimmerama feels this way but I can say our excitement was contagious.  And so I hope it will be again.

We are now older and few of the key members have since past.  Hence the hiatus as the role of the planner worked it self out.  All of our lives have changed in fact.  Marriage, change of address, deaths, births, adoptions.  In short life has happened.  And it has been great to witness and be a part of it.

Oh and the White Elephant gift exchange!  I can not reveal what wonder I will bring with me this year, as those attending may read this, but I can say it will change a few hands before finding its rightful owner.  Oh what will I unwrap?  An ancient can of moist dog food, a collection of screws and hinges or a nice bottle of wine perhaps?

I hope you get to spend time with you family too.  Enjoy your weekend!
